Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they are never weakness.
Licensed Professional Counseling in Wylie, TX
Welcome! I am a Nationally Certified Licensed Professional Counselor who offers therapy in Wylie, TX, and I am an expert on childhood trauma. I help kids, teens, and adults who have experienced trauma during childhood, find peace and happiness.
I know trauma. If you are struggling to break through parts of your past and feel blocked, I can help you.
Or if you care for a child who has experienced trauma and needs to work through their feelings, I would like to be your resource.
I believe in a collaborative relationship with my clients and use effective methods such as play therapy, sand tray, cognitive behavioral therapy, experiential, Gottman, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Together, we will focus on working to find the core of the anger, depression, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders and other coping mechanisms that aren’t resolving the pain.
I create a safe place for you to find what methods work best for you or your child.
In our last post, we talked about mental health disorders in youth. It probably doesn’t surprise you that there is a significant difference between men and women and their mental health. While women seem to have an easier time talking about their feelings and what they are experiencing, men tend to not want to talk
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It is important to not only know the facts about our mental health but also resources available. Though the stigma of mental illness has lessened in recent years, there still seems to be a hesitation to discuss it, or sadly, even learn about it, even though it’s a chronic disease that needs management.
As a licensed counselor who focuses on treating childhood trauma, I meet with kids and adults every day who want to work through their pain. I receive calls from many people seeking counseling who aren’t necessarily victims of childhood trauma, who I refer to other providers. How do I know who I can help, and who can receive help elsewhere?
I believe in transformational change, and it’s my job to help my clients tap into and access the parts of themselves that are holding them back or no longer serving them. I help my clients blossom into the person they long to become.
A little about me...
After completing my Bachelor’s degree at Texas Woman’s University in 2004, I taught high school science for two years and decided to go into counseling. In 2010, I obtained my Master of Science degree in Counseling and Development from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
I worked at The Family Place, an organization that helps families who have experienced abuse, both as an intern and later in the domestic violence and incest recovery departments. Afterward, I provided inpatient counseling for Timberlawn Mental Health System and continued my work in crisis intervention. I have counseled in multiple environments including the Salvation Army and correctional facilities. I also have extensive courtroom testimony experience.
I have received advanced training in EMDR for children and adolescents, and upon completion, will be the only EMDR certified practitioner in North Texas with that specialization. For more information about EMDR please click here.
I serve those who have experienced trauma, including:
- Adults who exprienced trauma as a child
I also lead group therapy sessions.
Individuals who have experienced trauma may experience or struggle with the following issues, which I address:
- Abuse (all types)
- Anger Management
- Relationship Issues
- Trauma and Recovery

- Personality Disorders
- Domestic Violence
- Family Conflict
- Teen Dating Violence

I also work with clients who have been ordered to seek therapy by the courts.
History despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.
Payment is due at the time of service. A session can last from 50 to 90 minutes based on the treatment type. The average session ranges in price from $110 – $130. For your convenience, I am happy to keep a credit card on file for recurring payments and I will also file insurance claims.
Due to the overwhelming number of children and adults who need trauma-based counseling, I book as many appointments as possible. When a client misses a scheduled appointment, it’s a lost opportunity to help someone else in need. Therefore, clients who miss appointments will be charged for the session.
I accept the following insurance plans:
- BlueCross BlueShield
- United HealthCare
