Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Therapy for Anxiety, Panic, PTSD and Trauma

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment that was developed to help patients desensitize past memories, events, triggers, and reduce phobias and addiction triggers.  EMDR is a psychotherapy that helps people heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that typically show up after disturbing life experiences. Studies show that EMDR therapy helps people experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.

EMDR Intensives

An EMDR Intensive is a way to deliver treatment in an intensive, but over a shorter amount of time, such as a weekend, where multiple EMDR sessions are completed each day. New research into EMDR therapy shows that intensive therapy for trauma and stress can be extremely effective on symptom reduction. EMDR Intensives can help clients to process more information and heal quicker.

EMDR Intensives are designed to support the individuals who have a busy lifestyle, frequent commute/travel, or need help more acutely. While many clients are good candidates for an EMDR Intensive, some may do better with an ongoing therapeutic relationship. Ideal candidates are those who have had a single stressful or traumatic event, such as an assault, fire / flood, or auto accident.

EMDR helps us process negative feelings and change the way we think about ourselves and our memories. Because of the powerful healing effect of EMDR therapy, Intensives can produce faster results weekly sessions using standard talk-therapy techniques. EMDR intensives can be a good option for someone who refers to take a more direct approach to addressing traumatic memories by doing so in a compressed period of time over weekly hourly appointments.
